Oscar and Herman is the story of two brothers learning to fill up their free time when they have too much free time. Suitable for children age 3-7, these short episodes each feature a different activity kids can play while entertaining themselves indoors. From play forts to science experiments to making your favorite snacks; this dynamic duo knows how to make you laugh and warm your heart at the same time.  

 

Modeled after PBS children’s programming, we at 4PuppetPeople strive to encourage creativity and focus on social-emotional development. In the context of brotherly bonding, Oscar and Herman gain social awareness and self-management, learn responsible decision-making, build their imagination and empathy, and have a raucous good time doing it all.

"Oscar and Herman PLAY INSIDE!" was originally created as a brief video tribute on World Puppetry Day - March 21 2020, the day after New York City began our country’s first official pandemic lockdown. But in the process of filming, creators Kirk Bixby and Laura Krouch realised there was a lot more potential for these adorable ideas on how to occupy your kids indoors. What began as one short sketch blossomed into 8 episodes written, filmed, edited, and released in the span of two months. Episodes were, and remain, completely free to view in order to give as many people access as possible. And soon enough, our little show with no budget, no pre-production, and only what was already available in the apartment, quickly became something beloved by kids, parents, teachers, and creators alike. 

 

Broadcasts of new episodes became special family rituals, garnering binge sessions and many quotable quotes from our happy little fans. And from that popularity, two holiday specials were developed later that year, with a second season currently airing episodes each Saturday morning at 9am EST. In the midst of ongoing pandemic stress, we hope to give everyone a little peace of mind and some fun new activities to explore with “Oscar and Herman Play Inside!”
